Atletico have entered the race to sign Sporting CP striker Gyokeres, according to . The Spanish giants have made the Sweden international a top priority as they look to overhaul their attacking options this summer. Diego Simeone wants Gyokeres to lead the line next season, but only Antoine Griezmann, who recently renewed his contract until 2027, is sure to stay. Atletico is hoping that more money from qualifying for the Champions League and new sponsorships will help pay for the transfer, which might cost more than €65 million (£55m/$74m).
Gyokeres, who attended the Champions League final at the Allianz Arena with his agent and sporting president, Frederico Varandas, is not hastily selecting his next destination, according to the report. The 26-year-old striker prefers a project that offers regular Champions League football and the chance to compete for domestic titles over financial gain.

Gyokeres has emerged as one of Europe's most prolific forwards in 2024-25, scoring 54 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions. He came to Sporting from Coventry City in July 2023 for €24 million (£20m/$27m), and if he wants to leave, he is aware of his release clause of €100 million (£84m/$114m). Arsenal and Chelsea have been interested in the striker for a long time, but Atletico are now a genuine competitor.
With his departure almost inevitable, Sporting are already preparing for life without him. Expect Danish forward Conard Harder to step up. He scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists this season. The club also intends to secure a top-tier replacement with the money from Gyokeres' exit.
