Rangers have a huge clash ahead of them once the current international break comes to an end as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Ibrox side take on their biggest rivals.

It represents a wonderful opportunity to close the gap at the top of the league table and go level with their old Firm nemsis.

Looking ahead to this massive clash, it seems as though the Gers may be handed a big injury boost that could very much work in their favour when it comes to securing a win on the day.

What’s the news?

According to a recent report from the Daily Record, Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic is a doubt for the Old Firm showdown after an ankle knock he suffered in the Hoops’ previous league game forced him off the pitch.

That has since caused him to withdraw from the Australia squad for their World Cup qualifying games.

Boost for Rangers

Taking into account how the midfielder has managed to score five goals and provide six assists in 25 league games this season, it’s safe to say that he would be a big blow for Ange Postecoglou’s side as an extra attacking threat from midfield.

The 29-year-old has racked up an average of 1.6 key passes per game, the fourth-highest of any player currently in the Celtic squad, and thus, he could be a dangerous figure for the Gers to try and defend against.

On the flip side, this represents a big lift for Rangers and their chances of beating their rivals as it would give their defenders one less attacking factor to worry about.

Having lost 3-0 to the Parkhead club back in early February, there’s no denying that Van Bronckhorst’s side will be wanting revenge this time around to close the gap at the top of the SPFL.

While Celtic are sweating over the fitness of Rogic, the Ibrox side will have to make sure they’re ready to take advantage and put themselves in the best shape possible to win all three points by the time the game comes around, in what could be a defining match for both sides.

Should the Hoops midfielder not be able to make a full recovery before the Old Firm Derby, this will surely delight Van Bronckhorst and give his players an extra boost to their chances of securing a victory.
